Arakallan Mukkal Kallan was once announced as a film that would see the coming together of Mammotty and Mohanlal after T20.Though a film starring Nazir and Adoor Bhasi under the same title was released in the past, the crew said this new version would be having a completely different story.

Along with Mammootty and Mohanlal, Dileep also was said to have an important role. It was also supposed to be the first directorial venture of screen-writer duo Udayakrishna-Sibi K Thomas. But later when they parted ways, the project came to a standstill.

After a long gap, the project is getting revived. The film is being directed by Vysakh. Only Mammootty will be acting in the film and instead of Mohanlal and Dileep, youth stars will be appearing in the film.

Pulimurukan is story written by Udaykrishna for Vysakh after he and Sibi K Thomas parted ways. After that, Vysakh announced several projects with Udaya Krishna as the script writer. Second part of Pokkiriraja titled Raja 2 and a Nivin Pauly film are a few of them. Arakkallan Mukkal Kallan will follow this.
