THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Syndicate members locked up Kerala University vice-chancellor Dr P K Radhakrishnan in a hall, alleging anomaly in the appointment of teachers.

The Syndicate meeting began at 10 in the morning. The appointment of teachers was considered after putting up two agendas for discussion.

As all syndicate members created noise, VC tried to wind up the meetings and go out. Soon the syndicate members locked two doors of the hall and blocked the VC.

The blockage that started 11 in the morning is continuing now also.

In between, DYFI-SFI members destroyed the university gate and barged in. They have reached near the office of VC.
Joint Registrar has requested DGP Loknath Behera and City Police Commissioner P Prakash to give protection to the VC and shift him to a safe place outside, as the protestors had entered the university office.

Though there are police inside the university, they are not intervening, according to sources. Later more police men reached the spot and dispersed the protestors using water cannons.
