KOCHI: A petition was filed by Saritha S Nair, an accused in the solar cheating cases, before the Kerala High Court against the Pathanamthitta Sessions Court verdict confirming the three-year rigorous imprisonment awarded by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court to her in a cheating case.

Her accomplice in the case, Biju Radhakrishan, had also been sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment and asked to pay a fine of Rs. 75 lakh. Saritha had been fined Rs. 45 lakh by the court. When she appealed against the magistrate court order, the sessions court upheld the sentence but reduced the fine amount to Rs 40 lakh.

The case was registered against her and Biju Radhakrishnan on a complaint by NRI businessman E K Baburaj of Idayaranmula. He alleged that the accused had defrauded him of Rs 1.19 crore by promising him the post of a managing director in their company.
