KANNUR: Now on, Kannur people need not worry about finding a good doctor in hospitals on Sundays. There will be child specialists in Kannur Town Police Station from Sunday. No doc fees and the treatment will be free.

Not only this, the doctor will also be available on public holidays. The Town police are starting here the first station clinic in the State and this will be inaugurated by Ramachandran Kadannapally on January 14.

The clinic will function in the children-friendly room opened by the Town police recently. There are even cartoon pictures in on the walls of this room. As many as 14 child specialists have come forward, offering free service. They have agreed to take turns to treat child patients on Sundays.

The clinic will function from 9 am to 1pm. Thirty tokens will be issued on the clinic day.

“My own experience has inspired me to begin such a clinic. One Sunday my daughter fell ill and had to comb the whole Kannur Town to find a good doctor. Even then, I could not find a good doctor.

I had to keep my child inside casualty that whole day and night till the doctor came on the next day. Many parents must have undergone such a harrowing experience,” says T K Ratnakumar, Kannur Town CI
