KOTTAYAM: Again Suryanelli model sex racket was busted on Saturday with the arrest of alleged pimp Athira, who is also a cousin of the 16-year-old victim in the case. The accused had allegedly enticed the girl with money and costly dresses and took her to several five-star hotels at Mararikulam and Ernakulam to present her before the clients.

Punnapra native Athira (24) was arrested by Alappuzha police. A police man who allegedly abused the girl is under suspension. The girl had revealed to Woman SI Sreedevi that many people including police officers and politicians had sexually exploited her. After this district police chief S Surendran ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident. DySP P V Baby is in charge of the investigation

The policeman under suspension is Narcotics Cell senior civil police officer and Alappuzha native Nelson Thomas. Narcotics DySP Nasim said that following the complaint, Nelson had been transferred to Kainadi Police Station on January 4.

Nelson went into hiding soon after the arrest of Athira. He will be arrested soon. The girl has been subjected to medical test and the doctors have confirmed sexual abuse of the victim.

The incident came to light after Coporation Councillor and locals tipped off the police after they veru often saw the girl, who is from a financially backward family, going out and coming in with Athira, wearing good dress and make-up.
