THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state general secretary K Surendran has taken to Facebook to tender apology to Sreejith, who has been on a hunger strike for more than 764 days in front of the Secretariat seeking to bring to light the culprits behind the custody death of his brother and native of Neyyattinkara Sreejiv.

He has said that none of the people who are now showering attention on Sreejith ever cared to take notice of the young man for more than 700 days, and that it’s because of his guilt conscience that he did not go to visit Sreejith even after many people forced him to do so.

His post comes following opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan paying visit to Sreejith on Saturday.

“I did not go to visit Sreejith because I could not behave as heartless as Chennithala. Sreejith’s brother got killed when Chennithala was the home minister of the state. It was his police that wiped off all evidence in the case. There is no point in blaming Pinarayi on this matter now. The police have wiped off evidences of many such cases in the state before,” he said.

K Surendran also said that there is no point in seeking a CBI probe after all evidences have been wiped off, and that he sincerely apologises for not taking notice of this one-man protest until now.
