NEW DELHI: The state government has clarified that it has an unbiased stance on the petition against the High Court Division Bench’s order to nullify the order by the Single Bench to take action against the police officers in the ISRO spy case.

The government made this statement as a reply to the petition submitted by an accused and former scientist Nambi Narayanan at the Supreme Court. The government has made it clear that it is ready to execute any order by the SC.

The CBI had made a recommendation to the government in 1996 that there has been serious lapse on the side of the police officers who investigated the case, and that action must be taken against them. Nevertheless, the government released an order on June 29, 2011, cancelling all actions against the police officers.

The Single Bench of the HC, on October 20, 2014, had ordered the government to take needed action within three months after considering the recommendation by the CBI.

The Division bench had come out with an order to cancel all actions against the officers based on an appeal submitted by the investigating officers Sibi Mathew and K K Joshua.

Nambi Narayanan had approached the SC against this order by the HC.

The SC will consider the case again on February 16.
