ALAPPUZHA: The Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) will stay with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), BDJS president Thushar Vellappally has said. He was speaking to reporters after the party’s State executive committee meeting at Cherthala.

“There are issues in the NDA alliance. Hardly any discussions take place in the NDA. All decisions are taken unilaterally by the BJP. However, the BDJS is not looking to quit the alliance now,” Vellappally said.

He, however, said a decision on whether or not to field a candidate in the Chengannur Assembly bypoll would be taken at a later stage. “The Chengannur seat belongs to the BJP. But the BDJS Chengannur Assembly committee has taken a strong anti-BJP stand there,” Vellappally said. He said that P S Sreedharan Pillai could be a good candidate for the NDA in Chegannur.
