THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Old Chathurvarnya system is making inroads in society in its new form. When the Creamy layer limit was made Rs 8 lakh in other states, in Kerala it is still kept at Rs 6 lakh, SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellapally Natesan has said. He was inaugurating SNDP Yogam –Editor K Sukumaram memorial Thiruvananthapuram unit’s third phase micro finance loan distribution and Guru Dharma awareness programme.

“Ezhava community has always been a deceived community. That has been the situation, whoever it has sided with. At a time when immigrant brahmans conquered all fields, Malayali memorial was formed to bring a change to that situation. But benefits of that was reaped by forward classes. Hence Ezhava Memorial had to be formed for the community to get representation in administration and employment.

Sree Narayana Guru had sent Kumaranasan to Praja Sabha to ensure the participation of backward class in the administration. SNDP Yogan had always been a protest organisation also. Nobody knows how reservation came into existence. It was Gurudev who initiated Vaikom strike for the freedom to walk along pathways. But we are forgetting such histories,” he said.
