KOTTAYAM: CPI State secretary Kanam Rajendran has said that what the Left should block are Sangh Parivar and BJP. CPM and CPI have identified this main foe. “Time will resolve differences of opinion between the CPM and CPI. The inability of Communist organisation to identify the main enemy has been a major setback for it,” he said while inaugurating CPI district conference at Karukachal.

Kanam said that brilliance of the Communist lies in its ability to realise whom they should oppose according to the changing circumstance. “We may have to change today’s stand tomorrow. In the present political circumstances, the unity of the Left is very much necessary. For that, CPM and CPI will have to work together. However, the RSP and Forward block in the Left wing is in different sides in other states. Under these circumstances, the onus is on the CPM and CPI to strengthen the Left unity.  Any one party can’t be given the tag of secularism. If secularism can be strengthened, minority as well as majority communalism can be prevented,” he said.

Kanam also rejected the suggestion for taking back K M Mani to the LDF, with a retort: From when onwards did Mani become a puritan?
