THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded immediate action against those who are involved in the custodial murder of a youth at Varappuzha in Kochi. The opposition leader alleged that Sreejith (26), who was taken into custody in connection with the suicide of a person, died in a hospital on Monday.

"The youth died due to custodial torture and the police personnel responsible for the inhuman act should be suspended immediately," he added. The family members of the victim alleged that the death was due to custodial torture and they also complained this to the State Human Rights Commission. The Medical report also says the death was due to the injury to his internal organs, he said.

"The people who are in police custody are not safe under the Pinarayi Government in Kerala. The people who were taken by the police in connection with any crime are not returning to normal life," he alleged.
