THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy has written a letter to chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan seeking his intervention to immediately strike a compromise in the ongoing doctors’ strike.

“The government’s initiative to implement the Aardram Mission is welcome. It is the argument over the practical difficulty in implementing this programme that led the doctors to protest. The functioning of all government hospitals except the government medical college hospitals have come to a standstill,” he has said in his letter.

He has pointed out that the issue could be solved by taking measures to allow required posts and vacancies in family health centres and by selecting health centres based on the real needs.

Oommen Chandy has also urged the CM to take the initiative in holding discussions with the doctors’ organisation and reach a solution for the issue as soon as possible.
