THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the argument about cooperating with other secular and democratic parties including the Congress to defeat the BJP raging within the party, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has come to the fore clarifying his stance on the matter.

He has asserted that the CPM will not forge any connections with the Congress to defeat the BJP. He assured that no decision regarding cooperation with the Congress will be made during the party Congress. However, he added that a decision regarding attracting maximum anti-BJP votes without forming any alliance with the Congress will be made at the party Congress.

Meanwhile, administrative reforms commission chairman V S Achuthanandan has said that the CPM need to forge alliance with other secular and democratic parties to defeat communalism. He added that this is most important under the current social circumstances.
