Kanaka is a yesteryear actress who had secured a safe place in the minds of Malaylis through her endearing roles in a handful of Malayalam films.

She, who had distanced herself from the cinema world following the demise of her mother, spoke her heart out in an interview given to a magazine.

The actress, throughout the interview, threw tantrum at her father, who, according to her, had demeaned and mentally harassed her and her mother.

“My father Devadas is the man behind spreading the rumours that I’m mentally ill. When I didn’t obey him, he started going about telling everyone that I’m mentally sick and I made a will by faking my mother’s signature.

He said that I’m a drug addict and I was under treatment in Alappuzha. I was not surprised about this since he was the man who called my mother a prostitute. Even after so many years, he continues to badmouth me and my mother. Hence, I’m not interested in mingling with him,” Kanaka said in the interview.

Don’t want role of mother, supporting actress

“I’m getting old and I can never again act as a heroine. I shall get only roles that of a supporting actress, mother or sister. But, I’m not interested in such roles. However, even after so much years of my absence in the cinema field, people still remembers me. I consider that as my big luck,” she added.
