THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain that lashed the city on Sunday evening brought down many trees.

The Fire and Rescue Services rescued a family in Kadapathla Lane, near the Golf Club, after the rear compound wall of the club collapsed inside their compound, and water entered the ground floor after the door broke. The rush of water took their car along with it. The vehicle ended up ramming an electric post, bringing the line down into the water. The Fire and Rescue Services reached the spot to move the family to safety.

The rain brought down trees at Panavila, near Tagore Theatre, Jawahar Nagar, Kanjirampara, Kudapanakkunnu, Mannamoola, Ambala Nagar and ESI Nagar at Peroorkada, and Police Quarters road near PMG. The rescue services deployed six vehicles for the rescue operation and removing the fallen trees.
