KOZHIKODE: The fasting month of Ramzan 2018 will begin in Kerala from May 17, religious leaders on Tuesday announced.

Leaders, including Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, Samastha General Secretary Prof K Alikutty Musaliyar and others, said this decision was taken as the moon was not sighted in the region.

The holy month of Ramzan will end with Eid-ul-Fitr after 30 days of fasting by devotees.
