KANNUR: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that the Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala is acting like an RSS man, and added that by inviting Yeddyurappa to form the government, the governor has butchered democracy.

“Butchering is the way of the RSS. They have now moved from slaughtering men to slaughtering democracy. The governor is facilitating horse-trading,” he said.

Kodiyeri also said the usual procedure is to invite the group with majority in the Assembly to form the government but what happened in Karnataka was against this. He also pointed out that the Congress was the single largest party in Goa, Manipur and Meghalaya but the governors there invited the BJP to form the government there.

“The BJP won only two seats in Meghalaya but they formed the government there by making a big post-poll alliance with every other parties there. If that is so, the Congress-JD(S) alliance has the majority number of MLAs in Karnataka. The two of them together have 115 MLAs, as against 104 MLAs of the BJP. But still the governor invited the BJP to form the government, thereby giving the message that the BJP can create the majority through horse-trading,” he said.

Kodiyeri added that a public sentiment would soon be formed against such an undemocratic action.
