NEW DELHI: Japanese carmaker Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Friday officially launched its mid-segment sedan Yaris at a starting price of Rs. 8,75,000, reports ET Auto.

The mid-segment sedan was first unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018. Bookings for the B-high segment Yaris opened in April across all Toyota dealerships with deliveries to commence from May.

Toyota Yaris comes at an introductory price of Rs. 8,75,000 to Rs. 14,07,000 (ex-showroom India) with TKM to maintain the same uniform price pan-India.

The Yaris comes loaded with safety features such as seven SRS airbags including side airbags, SRS curtain shield airbags and SRS knee airbag, Anti-lock braking system with electronic brake distribution, vehicle stability control, front and rear parking sensors and all 4-wheel disc brakes.

Akito Tachibana, managing director of Toyota Kirloskar Motor said at the test drive of the Yaris: “We see high market potential with growing population of Indian middle-class families aspiring for more advanced features, safety, space, luxury, style and comfort.”

Built on Toyota’s QDR (quality, durability and reliability) philosophy, the Yaris will be offered in a 1.5L Dual VVTi gasoline engine with a 7-speed CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) or a 6-speed manual transmission. The CVT option will be made available across all trims.

It will compete against Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City.
