THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has given instructions to concerned department to take immediate steps in the wake of monsoon gaining strength in the State. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday gave instructions to chief secretary and district collectors to take necessary steps to face the natural calamity, if any.

“The Centre’s disaster management teams will be sent to Kozhikode district, where the nature has wreaked more havoc. The team comprising 48 persons will soon reach the district,” the chief minister said.

Meanwhile, the chief minister’s office informed that one more Central team will be called in to the State to meet any exigency.
The chief minister has also given instruction to police and fire force to take part in rescue and relief activities.

A team of ministers led by the Revenue minister is in Kozhikode district to take stock of the situation here. Revenue Minister E Chandrasekharan said that all help would be rushed to people affected by the monsoon rage. “The government has taken all steps. Money is not a problem…” he said at a press conference after a high-level meeting.
