THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The executive engineer, Kerala State Transport Project (KSTP), Kottarakara division, has been placed under suspension pending inquiry for the lapses in undertaking repairs of the World Bank-aided KSTP road corridor from Alappuzha to Changanassery (AC Road).

Minister for Public Works G Sudhakaran said Executive Engineer Anithakumari, who is on deputation from the PWD to the KSTP, has been placed under suspension after he personally found 2,200 potholes on the corridor while travelling along the 29-km AC road recently.

The Minister for Public Works said the direction given this month to the Executive Engineer to undertake urgent repairs on the stretch was ignored. “The Executive Engineer has not bothered to answer the telephone calls made from my office nor has she called back,” the Minister said.

The Deputy Chief Engineer, Vigilance, PWD, has been asked to investigate the lapses of the officials.
