NEW DELHI: NDA Candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh has been elected as Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman with 125 votes, UPA's BK Hariprasad got 105 votes. Harivansh Narayan Singh (born 30 June 1956) is a politician from Janata Dal (United) party, is a Member of the Parliament of India representing Bihar in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament. He is graduated from Banaras Hindu University and resides at Ranchi. He is elected for the term April 2014-April-2020. YSRCP, PDP and AAP abstained the voting in the House. Besides NDA partners of Shiv Sena and Akali Dal the, BJP alliance got support from BJD, AIADMK and TRS, while the opposition alliance led by Congress managed to get support from TMC, DMK, Left parties, SP, BSP, NCP and TDP.
