THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A court on Thursday found three persons guilty in the murder of a youth, Syed Ali, in Chala eight years ago. Sajeer alias Habeer, 29, and his brother Rafeeq, 24, of Sulaiman Street and Hussain Abbas, 25, of Puthen Road in Vallakkadavu, were found guilty by Thiruvananthapuram Additional District and Sessions Court – VI judge P.N. Seetha of murdering Syed Ali (22) of Vallakkadavu in Ruby Nagar, Chala, on September 6, 2010. The sentence will be pronounced on August 13.

The gang was found to have avenged the murder of their relative Sathar, allegedly by Syed Ali, at a bar hotel at Enchakkal in 2008.

According to the prosecution case led by Additional Government Pleader and Public Prosecutor M. Salahudeen, the murder was committed when Syed Ali was shopping at Ruby Nagar along with his sister Nabeesath and 15-year-old niece Mehirjan. Having spotted him at the shopping centre, the gang stabbed Syed Ali. The members of the gang were found to be guilty of illegal detention, use of weapons, attack on women and criminal conspiracy
