THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is more or less confirmed that CPM leader and former Minister E P Jayarajan is returning to Cabinet soon.

In the CPM State secretariat, it has been decided to allot Industries department to Jayarajan.

Current Industries minister A C Moideen will be given Local administration. It was also decided to give higher education and social welfare to K T Jaleel.

The swearing in ceremony will take place on Tuesday.

Earlier CPM State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had held talks with allied party leaders regarding his reinstatement as the minister. He held repeated talks with CPI leaders after the party opposed the proposal to re-induct him as minister. The softening of their stand eventually brightened the prospects of Jayarajan’s reinduction.

E P Jayarajan, the second person in Pinarayi Cabinet and CPM Central Committee member, had to quit as minister after he got caught in nepotism controversy on October 14, 2016.

Meanwhile, on September 26 last year, the government had submitted before the high court that the charges against Jayarajan would not stand as per Prevention of Corruption act, since nobody received monetary benefits or any other benefits in the conduct of the then minister.
