Sainik School at Kazhakuttam in Thiruvananthapuram has invited applications from boys for an entrance examination to be held on January 8 in Kozhikode, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Wayanad, Kazhakuttam, and Kavaratti in Lakshadweep for admission to classes VI (65 seats) and IX (6 seats).

Admission will be made in accordance with the merit in the entrance examination, an interview, and medical fitness. Sainik schools prepare boys academically, physically, and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy and other walks of life.

For admission to class VI, the applicant's date of birth should be between July 2, 2001 and July 1, 2002. For class IX, it should be between July 2, 1998 and July 1, 1999 and the applicant must be studying in class VIII in a recognised school.

For getting the application form, prospectus, and previous question papers by registered post, send a requisition letter, along with a demand draft for Rs.475 (Rs.325 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes), to the Principal, Sainik School, Kazhakuttam – 695 585. The draft drawn in the same address should payable in Thiruvananthapuram.

The class applied for, address with telephone number, and the category of the applicant should be mentioned in the requisition letter.

Application forms and prospectus can be had directly from Sainik School on payment of Rs.425 (Rs.275 those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes).

The forms can be downloaded from www.sainikschooltvm.org and the filled forms and registration fee should be sent to the address. On receipt of the application, prospectus and model question papers will be sent to the applicant.

The last date for issue of the application forms and prospectus is December 3 and receipt of the filled applications is December 10. For details, visit www.sainikschooltvm.org

MBA COURSES

The University Business School of Panjab University, Chandigarh, has invited applications for admission to two-year, full-time management programmes.

  • MBA (Biotech): Those with a degree in biology, botany, microbiology, zoology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, pharmacy, biotechnology, bioinformatics or veterinary science or BE or B.Tech. in biotechnology or bioinformatics or MBBS or BDS with not less than 50 per cent marks in aggregate may apply.

 

  • MBA international business and human resource management: Those with a degree in any discipline with not less than 50 per cent marks in aggregate or a pass in the final examination conducted by the ICAI, ICWAI, ICSI or AMIE with 50 per cent marks may apply.


Those appearing in the final year qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

Selection will be on the basis of the score in the Common Admission Test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management, a group discussion, and a personal interview. The application fee is Rs.2,000. Application forms and details can be downloaded from http://ubs.puchd.ac.in. The filled applications with the application fee and true copies of relevant certificates should reach the Dean, Faculty of Business Management and Commerce, University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh – 160 014 on or before October 29.
