The Indian Maritime University (IMU) has invited applications for entrance tests to be held on June 17 across the country for admission to various courses on the university's campuses and affiliated institutions.
Admission to a one-year diploma course in Nautical Science, B.Sc. courses in Nautical Science, and Shipbuilding and Repair, and a B.Tech. course in Marine Engineering is open to those who have passed Plus Two with physics, chemistry and mathematics and those awaiting results.
Admission to an LL.M. Maritime Law course is open to those who have a Law degree.

Those applying for more than one course have to submit separate applications. The filled applications, along with documents, should reach the Controller of Examinations, Indian Maritime University, East Coast Road, Uthand, Chennai – 600 119 on or before May 31.
M.TECH. at IIST
The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) at Valiyamala in Thiruvananthapuram has invited applications for admission to its M.Tech. programmes in Propulsion, Digital Signal Processing, Radio Frequency and Microwave Engineering and Optical Engineering for the academic year 2012-13. Those with a first-class engineering degree in the relevant areas and a Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering score may apply. The age limit is 28 as on May 7, which is relaxed for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and people with disability.
Application forms, eligibility criteria and the mode of submission of the applications may be had from www.iist.ac.in. The filled applications should reach the Administrative Officer, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Valiyamala PO, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 547, on or before May 17. Enclose attested copies of certificates and a demand draft for Rs. 600 (Rs. 300 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and women) drawn in favour of the Registrar, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, payable in Thiruvananthapuram. The last date for the receipt of the applications is May 17.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test and an interview for admission. The IIST functions under the Department of Space.
CIPET test
The Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) has invited applications for a joint entrance examination to be held on July 8 for admission to various programmes at its centres. CIPET functions under the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals of the Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
Admission to a three-year diploma courses in plastics mould technology and plastics technology is open to those who have passed the 10th standard.
Those with a diploma can join an 18-month post diploma programme in plastics mould design with CAD and CAM. Duration – 1{+1}/{-2}years. Diploma holders are eligible to apply.
Those with a B.Sc. degree can join an 18-month postgraduate diploma course in plastics processing and testing.

The last date for issue of the application forms is June 1.
