The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, has invited applications for a common admission test (C-CAT 2012) to be conducted on June 17 and July 1 for admission to postgraduate diploma programmes at its centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Noida, Mohali and Kolkata.

The courses are in Advanced Computing; Wireless and Mobile Computing; VLSI Design; Embedded Systems Design; IT Infrastructure Systems and Security; System Software Development; Automation and Systems; Integrated VLSI and Embedded Systems Design; Healthcare informatics; Software Technology; and Geoinformatics and Computational Linguistics.

Those who desire to take the test on June 17 should submit applications online on or before June 12.

For the July 1 test, submit applications online on or before June 25. The courses start on August 21.

TTC course application

Applications have been invited for admission to the Teachers' Training Certificate (TTC) course in government and government-aided teachers' training institutes (TTIs) for 2012-14.

Those who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with at least 50 per cent marks may apply. Those awaiting results may also do so.

Forty per cent of the seats each go to science and humanities group students and 20 per cent to commerce students. Applicants should be in the 17-33 age group as on July 1.

The upper age limit is raised by five years for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes, by three years for the Other Backward Classes category and the eligible service period for ex-servicemen. A relaxation of 5 per cent marks is allowed for the Other Backward Classes category. Those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes require only the pass marks.

Visit www.education.kerala.gov.in for application format and details. Submit applications to the Deputy Director of Education of any revenue district on or before May 31. Selection is on the basis of the marks in the qualifying examination and interview.

Course in food technology

The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Haryana, of the Union government has invited applications for admission to its B.Tech. and M.Tech. programmes for the academic year 2012- 13.

The B.Tech. course in Food Technology and Management is open to those who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with a minimum average of 60 per cent marks (55 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Those awaiting Plus Two examination results may also apply.

They should have attained the age of 17 as on December 31. There are 120 seats. Selection is on the basis of the rank in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination and counselling.

The M.Tech. programmes are in Food Supply Chain Management; Food Safety and Quality Management; Food Process Engineering Management; Food Plant Operations Management; and Food Technology and Management.

The qualification required to apply is a degree in Food Science; Food Technology and Management; Food Technology; Food Process Engineering; Food Engineering; Dairy Technology; Agricultural Process Engineering; Agricultural and Food Engineering; Agricultural Engineering; Biotechnology; Biochemical Engineering; Chemical Engineering; or Mechanical Engineering or an M.Sc. degree in Horticulture; Food Science and Technology; Food Process Engineering; Industrial Microbiology; Microbiology; or Biotechnology.

Selection is based on the score in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology and an interview. Each M.Tech. programme has 18 seats. The application fee is Rs. 1,000 (Rs. 500 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes).

The filled application, along with copies of the required documents, including of the application fee, should be sent by registered post to the Head, Admission Cell, NIFTEM, Plot no. 97, Sector 56, HSIDC Industrial Estate, Kundi, Sonepat, Haryana – 131 028 so as to reach the addressee on or before June 16.


Food Process Engineering

The Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology, Thanjavur, of the Union government has invited applications for admission to its B.Tech., M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes in Food Process Engineering. Selection is on the basis of an entrance examination to be held on June 17.

The application fee is Rs. 500 (Rs. 250 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes). Application forms and prospectus can be downloaded from www.iicpt.edu.in.

The filled application, along with copies of the required documents, including of the fee, should be sent to the Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology, Thanjavur – 613 005 so as to reach there on or before June 6.
