The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), a centre of excellence under the Union government, has invited applications for a joint entrance examination to be held on July 1 for admission to various postgraduate pharmacy courses.
Registrations can be made online on www.niper.gov.in/niperjee2012.html till June 13. The MS Pharm., M.Pharm., M.Tech. Pharm. and MBA Pharm. courses are conducted on the Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Hajipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rae Bareli and SAS Nagar campuses.
The applicants should have passed the qualifying degree with minimum 60 per cent marks in aggregate and should have a valid score in the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or the National Eligibility Test. Those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes require 55 per cent marks and those physically challenged, 50 per cent marks.

The two-hour examination will be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Chandigarh and Kolkata. There will be a common paper for all the courses. The question paper will have 200 multiple-choice objective-type questions. Twenty-five per cent marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Before online registration, applicants should remit Rs. 1,000 (Rs. 500 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) as registration fee as given on the instructions on the website. A printout of the registration slip, along with documents, should be sent to the Chairperson, NIPER - JEE 2012, NIPER, Sector 67, SAS Nagar, Mohali, Punjab – 160 062 by Speed Post so as to reach the addressee on or before June 20.
Super-specialty courses
The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala, has invited applications for an entrance examination for admission to postgraduate super-specialty courses in the government medical colleges in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Thrissur and Kozhikode. There are MCh courses in paediatric, plastic, genito-urinary, thoracic, neuro and gastroenterology surgeries and DM courses in cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, nephrology and pulmonary medicine.
Applicants should be Indian citizens of Kerala origin registered with the State Medical Council with MD, MS or Dip.NB qualifications. The upper age limit for the general category is 45 as on June 8.
The application form and prospectus will be available on www.cee-kerala.org.
The application fee is Rs. 1,500 (Rs. 750 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes). Applications, along with documents, should be sent to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Building, Santi Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 001 so as to reach the addressee on or before June 8.
