KANNUR: Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran said those who signed the death warrant of Abdul Shukkor, a MSF district leader in this district, should be arrested. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function, the commemorative meeting of A P Jayaseelan, at IMA hall here, Ramachandran said the act of the CPI (M) has proved that it has become a party of the people who issue death warrant against rivals. He said the murders of Abdul Shukkoor of Ariyil and T P Chandrasekharan of Onjiyam, and the statement of CPI (M) leader M M Mani that the party used to kill the rivals has proved that it is still on the path of brutality. Though the murder of Chandrasekharan was brutal, the murder of Abdul Shukkoor was more heinous than that, he said. The 21-year-old student was killed in daylight after a trial by a group of people and this is crueler than Talibanism.

He also said the investigation into Shukkor murder should be more energetic pace like the Chandrasekhran murder case. However, he added that as of now there is no need for CBI probe into this case. But there is no need to hand over this case or the Chandrasekhran murder case to the CBI, he said. He also said the efficient police was able to arrest some of the main accused in Chandrasekharan case and this was a great success. Talking about the demand of BJP to re-investigate Jayakrishnan Master murder case, he said where was the party when his mother approached the court for CBI enquiry. He also said BJP state leadership was the people to point out the suggestion about this. Replying to a question, he also said that the probe into murder of Chandrasekharan was moving in the right direction and the conspirators would be nabbed and the leave of Vinson M Paul, SIT leader, would not affect the investigation. The intimidation of investigation in political case is the policy of CPI (M) at all times, he said. However, the UDF government cannot yield to any pressure. The policy of CPI (M) that ,when a crime occurred the party has given a accused list since last 30 years, and the real accused were free. This system was not allowed, Mullappally added.
