The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations has invited applications for an entrance examination to be held on July 8 for admission to the five-year LL.B. course in the government law colleges in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode.

Applicants should be Indian citizens of age 17 or above as on December 31, 2012 who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with minimum 45 per cent marks (40 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes). There are 320 seats — 80 each in a college.

The three-hour entrance examination will be conducted in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode. There will be 200 multiple-choice questions to test general knowledge (65 questions), English (65) and aptitude for legal studies (70). Each correct response wins three marks, while every incorrect response will shave off one mark from the total marks.

A general category student should get minimum 10 per cent marks in the entrance examinations to become eligible for admission. Those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes require 5 per cent marks. The total marks come to 600.

How to apply

Apply online on www.cee.kerala.gov.in till 5 p.m. on June 18. The application fee of Rs. 600 (Rs. 300 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) should be paid at any branch of the State Bank of Travancore by using the bank challan available with the online application printout. Candidates living outside Kerala can draw a demand draft from a nationalised bank in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations payable in Thiruvananthapuram.

Applicants should take a printout of the online application and affix a self- attested passport-size photograph, identical to the one uploaded on the space provided. This application, along with the required documents, should be sent to the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Housing Board Buildings, Fifth Floor, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 001 either by registered post or by hand to reach there on or before June 19. Admit cards can be downloaded from www.cee.kerala.gov.in from June 27.


RIE admissions

The Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Mysore, functioning under the National Council of Educational Research and Training, has invited applications for admission to various courses. Selection is based on the score in the entrance tests and marks in the qualifying examination.

  • Integrated B.Sc. Ed. (four years, eight semesters): Qualification required is a pass in Plus Two or equivalent examinations with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology as subjects of study.
  • Integrated BA Ed. (four years, eight semesters): Qualification required is a pass in Plus Two or equivalent examinations with 45 per cent marks in aggregate with English, regional language and any two subjects from History, Geography, Economics, Political Science and Sociology.
  • Integrated M.Sc. Ed. (six years, 12 semesters) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics: Qualification required is a pass in Plus Two or equivalent examinations with 45 per cent marks in aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • M.Ed. (one year, two semesters): Qualification required is B.Ed., B.Sc. Ed. BA Ed. or equivalent degree with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate. Weight is given to postgraduate degree holders.


All programmes are affiliated to the University of Mysore.

Applicants belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes are given a relaxation of five per cent marks from the eligibility requirement.

Application forms can be obtained by post from the institute by sending a demand draft for Rs. 500 (Rs. 350 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) drawn in favour of the Principal, RIE, Mysore, payable in Mysore with a self-addressed 26X12-cm envelope bearing Rs. 10 stamp.

Separate applications should be submitted for each programme.

The applications, along with enclosure, should be sent to the Section Officer (Academic), Regional Institute of Education, Mysore – 570 006 so as to reach the addressee on or before July 2. Visit www.riemysore.ac.in for details.
