THRISSUR: Alleging that the Congress has not taken any initiative so far to discuss either with the CPI (M) or other Left parties on the Presidential candidate, CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury said that his party will disclose its stand on support only after the UPA announces its Presidential nominee. Talking to reporters here, he, however, said the CPI (M) was in favour of a consensus candidate for Presidential poll.

On the CPI (M)'s stand in case the UPA projected Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee as its Presidential Candidate, he asked had anyone written five years ago that the incumbent President Pratibha Patil would be the Congress nominee for the top post? The veteran CPI (M) leader declined to comment on the possibility of proposing candidature of Defence Minister A K Antonty to the post.
