THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On the basis of review meetings held by ministers in charge of each district, the state cabinet announced several steps to contain spread of fever in the state. Briefing on Cabinet decisions, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said 209 doctors, 375 staff nurses, 115 pharmacists, 145 lab technicians, 397 cleaning staffs, 320 junior health inspectors and 245 spray men would be posted in the state for 6 months under contract basis.
Separate wards would be opened in taluk hospitals for treating patients suffering from fever for 6 months. Doctors willing to work in Kasaragod would be given additional salary of Rs 20,000 for 6 months. Labs having Micro level testing will be set up in all hospitals which admits patients. Mobile medical units will be started in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Thrissur districts. A sum of Rs 7 lakhs has been allotted for this. A sum of Rs 5 lakhs has been sanctioned for starting these units in other districts.
