THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Market intervention to peg the price rise of vegetables and other essential commodities will continue till Onam festival, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said. Briefing newspersons on the decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting, Chandy said Ministers for Cooperation, Health, Agriculture, the Chief Secretary, the Financial Secretary and other Secretaries and officials of the department concerned would discuss the possibility and measures that are to be taken to extend the market intervention till Onam and submit the report before the Cabinet. The steps that are to be taken to coordinate the intervention and financial liability would also be discussed, he said. He said 225 Staff Nurse Posts under DME would be created so as to overcome the shortage of staffs in the wake of spreading of fever in the state.
These posts are created to maintain the ratio of nurse and patient. It has been decided to cancel all the working arrangements and to call back the staffs to their respective offices. At present, postings are being held to fill up 1902 vacancies for doctors and para medical staff in the state. The Health Minister, the Chief Secretary, Collectors of all districts and Health Department officials would discuss the needs and problems related to specific areas regarding fever. Appropriate measures would be taken after discussing them in the Cabinet. A project worth Rs 384 lakhs was tendered for the Sabarimala drinking water project. Sanction has been accorded for the same with an excess of 26.7% amount of the tendered amount.
