       Govt introduces TET mandatory for teachers

  • The state government has introduced the Teacher Eligibility Test as a mandatory qualification for appointment as teachers up to the eighth standard. The test notification will be issued shortly by the Secretary, Pareeksha Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram. The test will be similar to the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. There will be 150 questions, each carrying one mark. There will be no negative marks for wrong answers. Those who have passed Plus Two in any subject combination with minimum 50 per cent marks and have the teachers training certificate may appear for category I (lower primary) of the test. Those who have a BA, B.Sc. or B.Com. degree with minimum 45 per cent marks and B.Ed. degree may appear for category II (upper primary class up to eighth standard). Detailed notification can be expected shortly on www.scert.kerala.gov.in.
  • The School of Distance Education of the University of Calicut has invited applications for an entrance examination to be held on August 12 for admission to an MBA programme in the distance-education mode. Graduates in any discipline with minimum 50 per cent marks may apply. Reserved sections get relaxation. The entrance examination fee is Rs. 1,000 (Rs. 500 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes). Register online before July 24. The examination centres are Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Mumbai and so on. www.universityofcalicut. info.
  • Banaras Hindu University has invited applications for its Research Entrance Test to be held on July 29 for admission to Ph.D., Vidyavaridhi, M.Phil. and integrated M.Phil.- Ph.D. programmes. Last date: July 16. www.bhu.ac.in.
  • The School of Distance Education of Bharathiar University has invited applications for admission to various courses such as MBA, one-year executive MBA and five-year integrated MBA programmes; M.Sc. programmes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Bioinformatics, Applied Psychology and Visual Communication; MSW; M.Com.; and MCA.   • The Centre for Distance Education of Anna University, Chennai, has invited applications for admission to MBA in general management, technology management, financial services management, retail management, health services management and human resources management; MCA; and M.Sc.
