THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An 18-year-old youth, Prashanth, was killed in a road accident at Kallambalam. The accident occurred at around 2 pm when the bike on which Prashanth and Aneesh, 20, were travelling was hit by a speeding jeep. Aneesh, who was riding pillion, was seriously injured.

The police arrested the jeep driver, Anoop, who was said to be in an inebriated condition. There were some tense moments at the accident site after local people spotted a piece of bone, thought to be Prashant’s, after the victims were taken to hospital. The police said that by the time the piece of bone was taken to hospital, Prashant was declared dead.
