THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Southern Naval Command Chief Vice Admiral Satheesh Sony called on Chief Minsiter Oommen Chandy at his chamber in the Assembly. The Chief Minister promised the Vice Admiral that 40 cents of land will be given for Navy at Moovattupuzha. The Vice Admiral requested the Chief Minister to allot land in such a place so that the retired members would also be benefitted out of this. At present, arrangements were being done in a rented building.

This is creating a lot of troubles, Vice Admiral pointed out. Taking this into consideration, the Chief Minister instructed Ernakulam District Collector to identify the land and take necessary steps. The Chief Minister has also instructed to give one acre of land at Ernakulam for housing project of Navy. The Vice Admiral told the Chief Minister that the Navy would meet the expenses. He also detailed to the Chief Minister the steps to be taken to protect the coastal belt especially due to the presence of BPCL, PETRONET and LNG Terminals. A survey is being conducted regarding coastal areas. After getting the report, steps would be initiated to ensure the participation of different departments in the works carried out by Navy.
