KANNUR: CPI (M) district secretary P Jayarajan had sent a defamation notice to district police officials, demanding to prosecute Kannur DySP P Sukumaran, Valapatnam Circle Inspector U Preman, DGP and Secretary of Home Department. Jayarajan claimed in the notice the police officials were making allegations to defame him in connection with the Abdul Shukoor Murder Case through the media, sources said here.

This was against the Police Act and Manual, he claimed.  Jayarajan and DYFI State Secretary T V Rajesh were injured in an alleged attack by IUML activists at Pattuvam on February 20. On same evening Abdul Shukoor, a MSF activist, was killed allegedly by CPI (M) activists at Valluvan Kadavu near Keezhara.
