Your editorial on the importance of agriculture is a welcome step. Two weeks ago in a similar letter had suggested some measures for inculcating a culture of agriculture in the minds of people. In this regard I had personally written to Oommen Chandy for the need of converting the large quantity of paddy fields lying right in front of the famous Puthuppally church.
Throughout Kerala vast land are lying vacant and we are idly sitting and wasting our time. We are ready to spend many hours for shopping all these goods and after consuming it all are willing to wait for hours for consulting a doctor or getting treatment in hospitals. But we are not ready to spend a mere half an hour daily for simple cultivations for our daily needs.
Really this negligence will be dangerous to us in the near future. Rubber plantation can yield money but it is not at an alternative to our food requirement.
