The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have invited online applications for the Common Admission Test (CAT) to be held during a 21-day testing window from October 11 to November 8 for admission to various postgraduate and doctoral-level fellow programmes in management at the institutes in Kozhikode, Tiruchirapalli, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Indore, Lucknow, Raipur, Kashipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Udaipur, Shillong and Kolkata. Some 150 approved business schools too use the CAT score for short-listing candidates for admission to management programmes.
A candidate can take the test once during the testing window. CAT vouchers, essential for submitting applications online, can be had from Axis Bank branches or associated outlets from July 30 on payment of Rs. 1,600 (Rs. 800 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes). The voucher must be bought in the name of the applicant as it appears in the school-leaving certificate.
Those with a degree in any discipline with at least 50 per cent marks (45 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and the physically challenged) may apply. Those appearing for the final-year degree examination or awaiting degree results may also do so.
After buying the voucher, candidates must log on to www.catiim.in to register their names.
The registration window opens on July 30 and closes on September 19.
This year, IIM, Kozhikode is organising the computer-based test.
The test has two sections with questions to test quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal ability and logical reasoning.
Each section has 30 multiple-choice objective-type questions. The time available is 70 minutes.
The CAT score card will be available on the website from January 9, 2013 and will be valid till December 31 that year.

NMAT
The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai, has invited online registrations on www.nmims.edu for the online NMAT (NMIMS Management Aptitude Test) from October 11 to December 19 for admission to its MBA and MBA Banking, Capital Markets, Human Resources and Pharmaceutical Management courses and the postgraduate diploma programmes in management on its Bangalore and Hyderabad campuses.
Candidates can choose the test centre, date and time slot in real time and two optional retakes are available on a first come, first served basis.

Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores are acceptable from foreign students graduating in March 2013.
