KANNUR: Sixty five motorcycles worth Rs 27 lakh were gutted when the lorry on which they were loaded caught fire at Koothuparamaba. According to Koothuparamaba police, the incident occurred when the container lorry carrying Kinetic Honda came in contact with an electric wire at Powerloom motta near Mamparam in the district.

All the bikes were fully damaged in the fire. The Haryana registration lorry (HR 55 N A 3445) carrying the two wheelers was bound to Thiruvananthapuram from Mangalore. Police and three fire fighting vehicles from Koothuparamba and Thalassery rushed to the spot and put out the fire.
