Actress Lakshmi, who immortalised the character ‘Julie’ in K S Sethumadhavan's 1974 film 'Chattakkari', had apparently refused to play the role of Julie’s mother in the remake.

Sethumadhavan's son Santhosh, who is behind the remake, said that he did not contact Lakshmi directly but her stance was communicated to him.

Lakshmi said that she wants to remain the young and attractive Julie in the Malayali minds forever.
