The remake of the 1983 movie Himmatwalla, is celebrated to be actress Tamannah's Bollywood debut.

But it seems it is not!

Producer Salim Akhtar claims that Tamannah was the heroine of Chand Sa Roshan Chehra produced by him eight years ago.

"It was I who introduced her to Hindi films, and neither she nor the makers of the remake of Himmatwalla are acknowledging that. Just because she went on to become a big star in the south after doing Chand Sa Roshan Chehra? Why do they lie so much in the film industry? She has just changed the spelling of her name, which was earlier spelt as Tamanna, and dropped her surname Bhatia” said Akhtar

He said that Tamannah was his daughter's classmate at Maneckji Cooper School in Juhu. Hisdaughter told him about the girl in her class whom he should cast in Chand Sa Roshan Chehra, which starred his nephew Samir. After a few days, Tamannah came to see him with her parents.

Asked about taking her to court, a peeved Akhtar said that his contract with Tamannah dated October 28, 2003 states that she is on a revenue sharing basis with his company, Aftab Pictures Pvt Ltd, from March 2005 till March 2010. Though she fared so well in the south, she allegedly did not share a single penny with him.

When all efforts in contacting her failed, he had no choice but to file a case against her in the Court of Additional Chief Magistrate Sealdah, Kolkata.
