ALAPPUZHA: Mavelikara Additional District and Sessions Court I Judge, G.Radhakrishnan sentenced four men accused in the case of attacking an excise team during raid on their premises in Kareelakulangara near Kayamkulam in the district in 2006 to seven years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and a fine of Rs 25,000 each and two women accused in the same case to 3 years RI and a fine of Rs. 10.000 each.

The third accused, Prakash is absconding. The Judge said that the four men accused will have to serve an additional one year RI if they fail to submit a fine of Rs 25,000. The accused were found guilty of attacking the Excise team with country swords and other weapons as well as destroying their vehicles.
