KANNUR: The police investigating the robbery of gold ornaments worth Rs 45 lakh from the owner of a gold jewellery shop at Taliparamba on September 17 arrested two more persons and recovered 26.5 sovereigns. The Taliparamba police had arrested two persons earlier. They said that P P Riyaz (40) and Theertha Manoj (37) were arrested from their houses near Taliparamba. Sixteen gold chains weighing 26.5 sovereigns were recovered from the house of Riyaz at Koranpeedika, near Pariyaram. The police also recovered Rs 8,500 in cash from the house. The robbery had taken place on September 17 night when C Prakashan, owner of the Ambika Jwellery at Taliparamba, was attacked by two persons when he entered the compound of his nearby house on his two-wheeler. One of them had thrown chilli powder in his face and ran away with his bag containing gold ornaments weighting 184 sovereigns and Rs1.25 lakh. One of the gang members, identified as Faisal, was arrested from the spot that night itself. Another person, identified as Eecha Rajeevan from nearby Kuttikkol, was arrested later.
