Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, has invited applications for the Combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination to be held on May 21 for admission to the M.Sc. courses in Biotechnology and Agricultural Biotechnology, the M.V.Sc. course; and the M.Tech. Biotechnology programme in various participating universities in India. The test centres include Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Coimbatore, Madurai, Chennai, Goa, Puducherry, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.
Among the participating universities are the University of Calicut; Banaras Hindu University; University of Hyderabad;Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara; Pondicherry University; and Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan. Those with a degree in physical, biological, agricultural, veterinary and fishery sciences, pharmacy, engineering and technology or medicine (MBBS and BDS) with at least 55 per cent marks may apply. Those who qualified in 2011 or thereafter and those appearing for the qualifying examination in 2013 are eligible to apply.
Agricultural Biotechnology, M.V.Sc
The participating universities include Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur; Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore; University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad; Rajendra Agricultural University, Bihar; Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar; Nanaji Deshmukh Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur; Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana; Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur; and Assam Agricultural University, Guwahati.
Those having a degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics with at least the prescribed minimum marks are eligible to apply. Only those who have taken the degree since 2011 and those appearing for the qualifying examination in 2013 are eligible to apply.
The participating universities are the Cochin University of Science and Technology; Anna University, Chennai; and West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata.
Those with a first-class engineering degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Technology, Chemistry or Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Electrochemistry, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Technology and Food Technology; B.Pharm. degree; or M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Physics, Marine Biotechnology, Marine Biology, Aquatic Biology and Fisheries Environmental Biotechnology or Bioengineering may apply. Those who qualified in 2011 or after and those appearing for the qualifying examination in 2013 may apply.
How to apply
Apply online on www.jnu.ac.in till March 23. To apply offline, application forms and prospectus can be had by post by sending a crossed bank draft for Rs. 260 drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University, payable in New Delhi, along with a self-addressed unstamped envelope of minimum 30x25 cm, indicating in it and the requisition letter the name of the programme of study opted, to the Section Officer (Administrations), Room no. 28, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi – 110 067 so as to reach there on or before March 11. The last date for receipt of completed offline application is March 28.
