The online registration for the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) for undergraduate arts and science programmes at the affiliated and constituent colleges, belonging to government, aided and self-financing streams, will commence on May 28, according to a Mahatma Gandhi University press note. Under CAP, the university will directly complete the merit seats and fill the quota for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and economically backward sections among forward communities. Registration for CAP will conclude on June 3.

Those seeking admission under management quota, community quota, sports quota and cultural reservation and also those eligible for reservation under special quota for the differently-abled persons, should apply directly to the respective colleges where they seek admission.

Thos from Lakshadweep should also apply directly to those colleges where seats have been reserved for them, the press note said. Those who wish to register should visit the website www.cap.mgu.ac.in, or www.mgu.ac.in.

Details regarding the number of seats and available academic programmes at colleges have been proved in the prospectus given in the university website. Application fees should be paid through the respective branches of State Bank of Travancore, as per the directive given in the website, the press note said. The online registration fees for SC and ST sections is Rs 80 and for others, Rs.180.

CAP was introduced for undergraduate programmes in MG University in the academic year 2011-12.

The objective of the initiative is to ensure a fair and transparent admission process. The system eliminates the fear of manipulation at all levels.

Under CAP, even student applying for multiple courses and colleges need to submit just one application. The admission process can be tracked online.

Special arrangements have been made at the Akshaya centres, university information centres, Kottayam, Kanjirappally and Pathanamthitta centres of the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension. Helpline telephone numbers are 0481-6555563, 6555564, 2732282, 2731020 (extn.1379).
