THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a bid to lessen the hardship faced by commuters from the capital and adjoining Kanyakumari district, Railways will extend the 22627/22628 Tiruchchirappalli-Tirunelveli-Tiruchchirappalli Intercity Express to Thiruvananthapuram Central from July 15.

The extension of Intercity Express was announced by Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu while participating in a function organised by Railways in Tiruchirapalli on Saturday to commission new projects.

As per the schedule, 22627 Tiruchirapalli-Tirunelveli-Thiruvananthapuram Intercity Express will depart from Tiruchirapalli at 7.05 am to reach Thiruvananthapuram Central at 3.35 pm.

In the return direction, 22628 Thiruvananthapuram -Tirunelveli-Thiruchirapalli-Intercity Express will depart from Thiruvananthapuram Central at 11.55 am to reach Tiruchirapalli at 8.15 pm.

The Intercity Express will have one air-conditioned chair car, seven second class chair car, eight general second class and two luggage-cum-brake vans from July 15.

Consequent on the Minister’s directives, the Railway Board has provided stoppage for Train 22627/22628 Tiruchirapalli-Tirunelveli-Tiruchirapalli Intercity Expresses at Manaparai on an experimental basis from March 25 up to September 20.
