NEW DELHI: Harley-Davidson India today launched a new mid-level racing bike Street Rod, at Rs 5.86 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The new bike has more muscular middleweight and offers better performance and handling along with more aggressive riding position and is available for booking from today, the company said in a statement.

The Street Rod, grown from the Street platform, is mounted on a 750 V-twin engine offering more peak power and torque with an extended rev range. Marketing director Pallavi Singh said the Harley- Davidson Street Rod is built to appeal a specific demographic in this space.

The Street Rod produces 11 per cent more horsepower and 5 per cent more torque than the Street 750, offering a peak power of 8,250 rpm and a peak torque of 4,000 rpm, she said, adding the new rear shock absorbers feature an external reservoir to increase fluid capacity and maintain damping consistency.

Harley-Davidson India began operations in August 2009 and appointed its first dealership in July 2010 and offers 14 models. Headquartered in Gurgaon, Harley-Davidson India has an assembly unit at Bawal in Haryana.
