KANNUR: Kerala Forest department has confirmed that a leopard was spotted near human settlements in Kannur. The other day carcasses of two cows were found at Payyambalam Palliyamoola, giving room for doubts on the presence of the leopard nearby.

Forest Officials reached here, examined the pugmarks and confirmed the presence of the leopard. The locals also informed that they had seen the leopard. The forest department is planning to catch the leopard after bringing in a cage from Wayanad.

This is the second such incidence over a span of last two weeks. The leopard that was spotted near Thayatheru Railway gate on March 5 was caught after an 8-hour toil.
