THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said there was lack of cautiousness in the way the district administration in Munnar handled the evacuation of encroachments.
“There was need for joint discussions on evacuation steps. If the evacuators were sure that the land on which the Cross was installed belonged to the government, a board should have been put up to indicate that. Demolition is not the government policy,” he said.
There are also hints that the government had called up the district administration officials to convey its dissatisfaction.
The chief minister was responding to the demolition of the Cross that was installed on an encroached land on Pappathichola .
The pulling down of the structures took place on Thursday morning under the supervision of Devikulam Tahasildar.
