THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 14-year-old-boy drowned in Karamana river after he got trapped in a deep pit formed in the river bed due to sand mining near Vellanad. The victim was identified as Adithyan, son of Udaya Kumar and Sajitha, residents of Companymukku, Vellanad.

The incident occurred when Adithyan went to take a bath in the river along with his cousins Akhil and Sanal at Eliyavoorkadavu near Uzhamalakkal.
